Northwestern
New Brunswick is a
vast region stretching between the borders of
Quebec and the
United States. It is an inviting and picturesque region
which enables one to
discover the benefits of a good quality of life.
The regions of
Madawaska and
Victoria
have a population of approximately 55 000 people. Although
New Brunswick is the only officially bilingual province
in
Canada, the Northwestern region is predominantly
French-speaking. This language duality makes it possible to find goods and services in both
official languages.
The local economy is mainly based
on
farming and forestry, as well as services,
retailing and transportation. This area is known as the gateway to the
Maritimes. Which is due to its road network that communicates
with
Quebec, the
United States and the
Maritime provinces, particularly by the presence of
Highway 2, known as the
Trans Canada Highway.
